I copied this meme from The BLS and thought I'd do it because I absolutely love movies! Have fun!
The Rules
1. Pick eleven of your favorite movies.
2. Pick one of your favorite quotes from each movie.
3. Post the quotes on your blog.
4. Have commentors guess what the movie is.
5. Place the guesser's name directly after the quote.
6. Extra points for knowing the actor/character's name.
Good luck!
1. You think anybody wants a roundhouse kick to the face while I'm wearing these bad boys? (Napoleon Dynamite, Diedrich Bader's character Rex - The BLS)
2. What am I? A schmuck on wheels? (Goodfellas, Morrie - The BLS)
3. What have I ever done to make you treat me so disrespectfully?
4. Well, isn't that what you're supposed to do with shit? Scrape it up with a little shovel?
5. Ahh, I'm going to have to go ahead and ask you to come in on Sunday, too. (Office Space, Bill Lumbergh - The Namby Pamby)
6. Lying's the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off - but it's better if you do.
7. Once again, things that could've been brought to my attention YESTERDAY! (The Wedding Singer, Adam Sandler's character - HMC)
8. I'm coming apart! Mother of God, I'm coming apart!
9. Allright, sweethearts, you heard the man and you know the drill! Assholes and elbows!(Aliens - The BLS)
10. I don't want to get you drunk, but, ah, that's a very fine Chardonnay you're not drinking. (American Psycho - Tommy Lawyer)
11. I don't know about you, but I intend on writing a strongly worded letter to the White Star Line about all of this. (Titanic - Leonardo DiCaprio's character - RPM)
BONUS QUESTION (I think it's an exceptionally tough one only because not everyone loves this movie)
12. I'm not in love with him. I'm in love with ghosts... And so is he, he's in love with ghosts. (The English Patient, Hanna - The BLS)
I have to give The BLS a total Wayne's World "we're not worthy" bow here for totally rocking so many of the answers to this quiz, INCLUDING what I thought was the pretty difficult bonus question!! You are the movie guru!!

Eh.......
Found a link on Pink is the New Blog to Jessica Simpson's website where there is streaming audio of her new song, A Public Affair. You can check it out for yourself here.
I don't know...not that I'm a huge fan of her anyway except to make fun of her constant idiocy, but I'm not impressed. Sounds like there is some sampling here, which I'm never too big on anyway. But this will probably be one of those songs that the radio stations will play into oblivion, unfortunately.

Nut...LawNut...
Found this on Here is No Why, and just had to post it when I saw the result. Too fun.
You scored as James Bond, Agent 007. James Bond is MI6's best agent, a suave, sophisticated super spy with charm, cunning, and a license's to kill. He doesn't care about rules or regulations and somewhat amoral. He does care about saving humanity though, as well as the beautiful women who fill his world. Bond has expensive tastes, a wide knowledge of many subjects, and his usually armed with a clever gadget and an appropriate one-liner.

&@#$*%!
Tonight Hubby and I were out with some friends at a popular sushi restaurant in the City. We were having a fabulous time, and I of course had too much to drink. In the midst of eating my delicious meal of spicy tuna and eel avocado, I didn't pay attention to what my chopsticks were picking up, and put into my mouth a gigantic. blob. of. wasabi. Yes. A whole blob of wasabi. I think I can honestly say that it was the most horrific pain I have ever experienced in my life. For a moment there, I thought that I might pass out at the table. It was indescribable. Thankfully, it was over relatively quickly, but I still feel like I might have some wasabi in my nose. Ick. I'm going to sleep it off.

Overheard at The Firm
Clerk 3: Is it Partner 1's birthday today?
Me: I don't know, why?
Clerk 3: Well there was talk of banners and a cake around the office today.
Clerk 1: Oh...no, it's not his birthday...he's just going on vacation for two weeks...

One Down...Two to Go
I am happy to announce...I am officially a 2L. I realize that I finished exams over a month ago, so technically you could say that I finished my first year of law school then; but I have been hesitant to really consider myself a 2L until I got all of my grades back, lest I failed something. That is just be being paranoid, I realize, but so be it. So today, I am a 2L! YAY!! (How lovely of the profs to have finally gotten around to grading those exams...I'm so glad they didn't take their time or anything like that.)
I keep thinking back to this time last year - Hubby and I were trying to find a house closer to where I would be going to school. We were incredibly stressed out. I was completely slacking off in Cubicle Hell because I knew I was quitting in a month and I loved it. I was terrified of starting school. I was convinced that I would be an utter and complete failure and let everyone in my life down over this endeavor, including and especially myself. A year later I find that I have a little more confidence, I know a little more about the law, and although things are still stressful, there is a light at the end of the tunnel in that hopefully I can get through this and become an attorney.
I guess, one year out, this is the only wisdom I can offer anyone who is about to embark on the law school journey. Is it terrifying? Yes, especially before you start. Then you start and it is the hardest and most academically challenging thing situation you've ever found yourself in; but somehow, you're doing it. Then finals roll around and you literally want to set your hair on fire rather than sit for these exams, but again, somehow you do it; and then you turn around and a year is in the can, and you don't know how you did it, you don't know how you'll do it again, but it's happening. So for anyone starting, go to class, do the reading, study your butt off, but remember to have fun, make friends, and don't take yourself too seriously - because in the end, people won't remember that you ranked first in your class as much as they will remember that you were a jerk or a really cool person; and sometimes, who you know and what opinion they have of you might pull you through more than a transcript ever will. Good luck 1Ls to be!

Surprisingly Effective, Without the Melanoma
I'm a big fan of "products." I love to try out new hair products, skin products, makeup, you name it, I like to try it out. However, my love of products is usually countered by an acute skepticism of said products, in that I will usually try something out anticipating that it's not going to work quite like it says that it will. Most of the time, I am right. Furthermore, I don't think I need to reiterate that I really like getting and being tan all summer long.
That brings me to the subject of today's post. Recently I read a post by Elle Woods noting that her Jergens self-tanner was working nicely. Since I have been feeling that my vaca tan was starting to fade away, and I always love me some new moisturizer, I decided to give the Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer a try. The result? I'm impressed. It smells nice going on, doesn't give off very much of that strange after-self-tanner-burnt-skin-stench, and within A DAY I was getting compliments on my freshly golden hue. Also, it doesn't make you orange, as there are different degrees you can choose from, either fair, medium, or tan skin tones. So I think I will rely on this for the duration of the summer since classes and working at The Firm isn't leaving much sunning time for the LawNut. And I've heard through the grapevine that laying out isn't that good for you anyway. ;-)

I'm SO Excited!
For anyone who knows me, I am a HUGE HUGE Nicholas Sparks fan. HUGE. I have read every single one of his books. Some more than once. Or twice. His writing is just amazing, and his stories are so captivating and heartbreaking, I can't even stand it. I have cried reading every single book, and every one leaves me wanting more. I guess you could say that as far as this man is concerned, I am one of those book groupies!
So you can imagine my excitement today when I just randomly checked out The Official Nicholas Sparks Website, as I tend to do from time to time, and there was a blurb on it about his new book, coming out this September or October, apparently to be named Dear John! That will have been about a year since his last book, At First Sight, which BFF gave me for my birthday last year and I quickly devoured it over Christmas break, so a new one has been long overdue. Needless to say, this bit of news made my day - I can't wait for it to come out!!

You Can Do It...Can't You?
I'm not much of a sports person; but I have been tuning in pretty religiously to the NBA Finals. Not just tuning in, but actually heartily rooting for Miami (I guess if I can't have NY, I'll root for my "other" home team). And honestly, last night's game was pitiful. Pitiful! It was almost like watching Dallas play a high school team. I was so disappointed! Grrr. I'm really hoping that Miami can get their act together for Tuesday's game...
Also, Blogger sucks. Why is it that every time I try to post something, there's a problem? People are waiting to read my endless thoughts on life here, Blogger!! Come on!!!

One More Thing...
College Roomie emailed me today to chastise me for not having emailed her all week. I admit, I have been a bad email buddy, and I apologize. However, she did mention that she had read my blogs for the last two weeks and so she was pretty much up to date on what was going on in my neck of the woods. And for that, I just have to express how awesome technology is. The fact that I can post stuff about myself anonymously for the world to read (if anyone out there is actually reading), but also so that one of my very best friends who lives far away can see what I've been up to even when I am MIA from her inbox? That is truly priceless.
On that note, I'm off to write College Roomie an email and "really" catch up - you didn't think I post EVERYTHING on here, did you?? ;-)

Was Blind But Now I See
I went to the eye doctor today. It was the first time in almost two years, so it was the first time I had been there since starting law school. You know how you hear about too much studying making you blind? Well, it apparently is not just a myth.
I've needed glasses since I was about seven years old. I was the dorky kid in second grade wearing the big pink glasses. I even had a pink string holder on the glasses, just in case they might spontaneously fly off of my face for no reason at all and I wouldn't be able to find them (it's memories like this that get me pondering what my mother could possibly have been thinking). Anyway, needless to say that without my contacts, my vision is not so great; but ever since I started law school, I have actually perceived my vision getting worse. At first I thought it was my imagination, since I had not experienced having to squint since elementary school; but then, as more Powerpoint presentations got increasingly difficult to take notes from, I knew I had to make a trip to the good old optometrist. And you know what? He confirmed my fears. My prescription had worsened. Boo. I did, however, get a free trial pair of a new brand of contacts that I wanted to try, so until the ones I ordered come in and the glasses I had made up are finished, I can see clearly!! No more squinting! So the lack of squinting means I can keep the Botox away for a couple of more years. And that's always a good thing.

What is the Holdup??!??!!?
Ok, enough is enough, people. I can't take it anymore. My last final was on May 12th. To date, I still don't know how I did last semester.
You know what, law school professors? Grade the exams already. Really. It's your ONLY JOB as a law school professor! All semester long, you come in, give the same lecture that you've been giving for the last twenty years, distribute the same handouts, and read off of the same Powerpoint presentation that you have for numerous classes. You job only really kicks in ONCE a semester, when it's time to grade the exams. Granted, I understand that there are quite a lot of exams; but it's not like you don't have assistants! And you've had A MONTH! A MONTH! I only wish that when I was given an assignment at school or work, I could take my sweet ass time with it, and maybe hand it in a month later. And that it would be acceptable. Not only acceptable, but that I would be a revered student/clerk.
I probably check anywhere between ten to 55 times a day to see if grades are posted yet. This is ridiculous. And while I know I am OCD about this, I don't think that I am alone.
The suspense is killing me!!!!!!!

I Just Love Being a Girl
I had the pleasure today of going to get a mani and pedi. Much needed, by the way, since it had been about two weeks since my last one - I know, I know - gasp!! So as I was sitting in the massaging pedicure chair, being pampered to my heart's content, I started thinking about how much fun it is to be a girl, and how I cannot understand why some women don't appreciate the greatness that comes with being a woman to its fullest extent.
I love makeup, I love nailpolish, I ADORE shoes (I have an addiction), I love clothes, and products, and you name it, if it's girly, I love it and want it. I have had people tell me that my focus and love of all things feminine makes me seem "ditzy" and "shallow." Now, I'll admit that I can at times be a bit of a flake; but come on now, who isn't??
Just because a woman likes to put on makeup and get her nails and hair done and look great doesn't make her shallow, or unintelligent, or even conceited. Quite the contrary - a woman that can accentuate her assets in such a manner is only more powerful than one who does not. An intelligent woman that looks put together and carries herself in a confident manner holds the world in the palm of her hand. That is what makes women so amazing, and what distinguishes us from men!
Now that the pampering is over, I must start doing some of my dreaded reading for my summer class. Work at The Firm isn't going to be leaving me all that much time for reading during the week, so I have to try to cram it all in over the weekend - boo. Oh well, at least it's rainy out...but rainy weekend days are such perfect Lifetime movie days, it seems a shame to waste it on Employment Law!!

Pup v. The Mailman
Why do dogs hate the mail carrier so? Well, maybe not all dogs; but at least Pup does. Every single day, it's a battle when Mailman comes to deliver the mail. He usually shows up between 11:30 and noon, but I don't need to check the time to know when he gets here - Pup makes it known, loud and clear, that Mailman is here. He begins howling, barking, going NUTS the second Mailman starts making his way up to the house. The closer he gets, the louder Pup gets; and if Pup is outside when Mailman gets here, well it's even worse. He runs at the gate, yelping and howling as if the devil himself were at the door dropping off the mail.
Mind you, Pup is not like this with anyone else who comes to the door. It's just the mail carrier; and it doesn't really matter if it's a different mail carrier than usual, such as when Mailman goes on vacation - same reaction. I think it's pretty funny, but I do feel bad for Mailman who must roll his eyes, bracing himself for the annoyance, every time he has to come to our house.
Today Pup and I went for a stroll, and on our way home, we ran into Mailman. Pup was surprisingly not at all bothered by Mailman, and was his usual, friendly self. I guess the problem is only when Mailman approaches the house?
In any event, Mailman produced a treat from his pocket and asked Pup if he "could buy his friendship"? Pup gobbled up the treat of course, and Mailman and I discussed whether tomorrow would be the usual debacle.
Somehow, I don't think that this battle is over yet - and unfortunately, it's one that I don't think poor Mailman stands a chance of winning.
Happy June, ya'll!!
